That is why we wanted to humbly and simply 'do our part', wherever we could, developing the Ecotech label from our experience and know-how. It aims to mark a ‘before’ and an ‘after’ in the design of sportswear.

To ensure we do not fall into the 'greenwashing' trap, its development has necessitated several years of work to guarantee it produces an actual reduction in our environmental impact with more sustainable products.

WHAT IS THE ECOTECH LABEL IN REAL TERMS?

The Ecotech label is a new way of combining recycled fibres to design more eco-friendly products, without compromising on comfort or performance. The Ecotech label therefore comes on all socks and future sportswear benefiting from this technology which, we believe, is revolutionary.

WHY DID WE CREATE THE ECOTECH LABEL?

The idea for the Ecotech label dates from quite some time ago. Such concerns have been at the heart of our R&D for a long while, but it took time to ensure that this new design technique, based on recycled textile fibres, actually worked and could not be lumped in with the so-called 'greenwashing' marketing arguments!

This initiative aims to reduce our environmental impact and matches up with the raison d'être of Sidas World, the group to which we belong, which has set itself the mission of contributing to the enjoyment of everyone in their sporting and nature pursuits, in the most sustainable way possible, through appropriate solutions for the body and feet.

HOW THE ECOTECH LABEL WORKS

WHAT DOES A 'MORE RESPONSIBLE MATERIAL' MEAN?

First of all, in our innovation process, we felt it was very important to distinguish natural materials from synthetic materials. Contrary to popular belief, a natural material can have a much greater environmental impact than a synthetic material. This is why we have chosen to employ virtuous and 'clean' materials, by limiting our use of animal materials that have a consequent environmental impact, like silk or merino wool.

We turned, therefore, to recycled synthetics, all of which are accredited with a GRS (Global Recycle Standard) certification. All our socks with the Ecotech label are therefore made from recycled textile fibres, i.e. recycled polyamide or elastane!

WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE ECOTECH LABEL?

We are true enthusiasts, so, like the champions and more amateur sportsmen and women we support, we like to set ourselves a goal. An ambitious but achievable goal. That of ultimately designing the most environmentally friendly technical sports sock on the market.

For this, the challenge is to develop products of quality equality to those of today, still with the same promise of comfort and performance, but with recycled fibres. For socks that are as technical as they are eco-friendly.
