Discover the S.E.T.® technology that has revolutionised heated clothing

Until now, the majority of heating systems have worked with very localised heating points on the garment, so heat distribution has not been effective, being confined to certain areas of the skin. S.E.T.® technology was developed to solve this problem and provide even heat distribution. How does it work? By replacing these heating points with a thin 2mm line discreetly integrated into your clothes. Imperceptible, this subtle band of heat wraps around your feet, hands, back or stomach, without forgetting the smallest mm2 of skin.

We've applied this revolutionary heating technology to our gloves, socks and heated base layers. Our heated garments have become little jewels of innovation, providing the perfect body microclimate throughout your skiing or winter sports sessions.

How has S.E.T.® technology enabled us to create the best heated sportswear? From gloves to socks to baselayers: which Therm-ic products benefit from it? Find out the answers to these questions in this article.

What is S.E.T.® technology?

How does Smart Elastic Technology work?

S.E.T.® technology is all about dots turned into lines. We explain.

Until now, heated gloves, socks and baselayers have been unreliable and ineffective, due to a heating system based solely on localised heat points. By replacing these isolated heating points with a subtle band just 2mm wide, imperceptible and discreetly integrated into the heated garment, the heat is spread perfectly evenly all around your hands, feet, back or stomach.

This all-round heating is the main benefit of this revolutionary Smart Elastic Technology, and the reason why our heated gloves, socks and base layers will protect you from the cold when you're skiing, hiking, cycling, running, trail riding, motorcycling or paragliding in winter.

"The warmth spreads evenly around your hands, feet, back and stomach.

Which Therm-ic products have S.E.T.® technology?

At Therm-ic, body thermoregulation has been part of our expertise for almost 30 years. The design of our outdoor clothing is based on two fundamental pillars: comfort and performance. In this quest, S.E.T.® technology is an essential asset, as it ensures that gloves, socks and first layers fitted with it distribute heat evenly and wick away moisture perfectly.

Smart Elastic Technology's mission is to protect your hands, feet, back and stomach from the cold by being present in :

  • Our Thin Ultra Heat Liner S.E.T.® warming undergloves, perfectly suited to hiking, cycling, motorcycling and running in winter; or to slip under our ski and mountaineering gloves in extreme cold.
  • Our Ultra Warm Comfort S.E.T.® warming socks, a Therm-ic warming sock designed for downhill skiing, snowboarding or ski touring, with particular attention paid to comfort, thanks to the incomparable softness and exceptional breathability of the merino wool it's made from.
  • Our Ultra Warm Performance S.E.T.® warming socks, a warming ski sock for demanding enthusiasts. A heated sock for winter sports experts, or for those who want to become one.
  • Our first warming Ultra Warm Baselayer S.E.T.® for women or men: an ultra-innovative baselayer to slip under your ski coats for unrivalled warmth and softness, with perfect moisture management.

The excellence of S.E.T.® technology is also reflected in the performance of our batteries:

The S-Pack 1400B batteries for heated socks provide a maximum autonomy of 16 hours; three different levels of intensity to enable athletes to adjust the level of heating according to their needs; and Bluetooth control via smartphone.

The Body-Pack battery, which is specifically compatible with our S.E.T.® heated baselayers, is slim, compact, imperceptible, easy to attach to the front of the first layer using press studs, and has three heating levels for optimum heat management.

"The result is an even distribution of heat and perfect moisture evacuation.

What are the advantages of Therm-ic heated garments?

Whether it's our heated gloves, heated socks or heated baselayers, they all have features that make them among the best heated sportswear in their category. These characteristics are unique, because your hands, feet, stomach or back do not have the same needs to stay warm and protect themselves from the cold.

However, our expertise in thermoregulation is based on immutable pillars:

- S.E.T.® technology: a revolutionary innovation that we've talked about a lot in the past and which, unlike other heated garments, ensures even distribution and efficient circulation of heat.

- The impeccable breathability of our products, thanks in particular to Moisture-Vent Technology, a textile construction in the form of macro-channels that guide perspiration outwards, for better moisture evacuation. A game changer for our heated socks and baselayers.

- High power and incomparable heating endurance, thanks to high-performance batteries. Your heated socks, baselayers and gloves heat up faster, stronger and longer. This is further enhanced by the three levels of intensity, which allow you to adjust the heat output to suit the conditions outside, and therefore prolong the efficiency of the battery, via Bluetooth.

How do S.E.T.® heated garments regulate humidity?

Are S.E.T.® heated socks breathable? The socks will heat your feet, but will they make them sweat? This is a question we are regularly asked. And rightly so. Moisture is the worst enemy of comfort, whether for your upper body, your hands or your feet.

Well, we're going to reassure you: our heated ski socks, like our heated baselayers and gloves, ensure absolutely perfect moisture management, thanks in particular to the Moisture-Vent innovation, which allows perspiration to escape via a system of macro-channels integrated into the construction of our products.
